CY3270 представляет собой стартовый набор PSoC 1 FirstTouch, который обеспечивает быстрый, простой и доступный способ оценки интеграции, гибкости и истинной программируемости смешанных сигналов программируемых систем на кристалле PSoC. Устройства PSoC 1 предназначены для замены нескольких традиционных микроконтроллерных системных компонентов одним недорогим однокристальным программируемым компонентом, включающим настраиваемые аналоговые блоки, цифровые блоки и межсоединения. Он имеет 8-битное ядро M8C CPU и флэш-память программ объемом до 32 КБ. В состав набора входят USB-интерфейсный донгл, называемый мостом FTPC, и многофункциональная карта расширения, называемая картой расширения FTMF. Карта расширения FTMF демонстрирует множество приложений с использованием периферийных устройств на базе PSoC. Карта расширения FTMF подключается к мосту через встроенный 8×2-контактный порт расширения моста. Как следует из названия, мост FTPC обеспечивает соединение между картой расширения FTMF и различными ПК-приложениями, которые управляют картой расширения FTMF и взаимодействуют с ней.
